The Eraserheads or E-Heads was a prominent Pinoy rock band of the 1990's, formed by Ely Buendia, Raimund Marasigan (vocalist of Sandwich now), Buddy Zabala and Marcus Adoro. The band is one of the most successful, critically-acclaimed, and significant bands in the history of Original Pinoy Music. If I'm not mistaken I knew this band when I was in my kindergarten days at the age of 6 years old..too young huh?my cousin "Kuya Noel" who's addicted to music that time is the one who introduce it to me. I saw him carrying tapes of Eraserheads, humming he's guitar and jamming with he's friends singing the song of E-heads.
At the early age the songs of Eraseheads stuck into my brain here are some of the songs that made them famous Alapaap,Kaliwete,Pare Ko,Toyang,Magasin,Kisapmata,Alapaap,Ang Huling El Bimbo,Huwag Mo Nang Itanong,Buloy, Fruitcake,Harana and a lot more. I love all the song specially "Ang huling El Bimbo" and "Magasin". Undoubtedly this band really rocks the Philippine music scene calling them as a "Beatles" in the Philippines that time.
E-heads are famous not only in the Philippines but also in other parts of the globe . They even received a "Moon Man" trophy for winning the 1997 MTV Asia Viewer's Choice Award, the first ever Filipino artists to win the award.The break up of the band started when Ely Buendia, left the band in mid-March 2002 for "reasons unknown".
But as time goes by I think some fans including myself know it already why Ely leave the band it is because he's suffering from heart failure and he really needs an immediate operation...I don't know if my speculation was true.
Last August.31,2008 Eraserheads reunion concert held at the Bonifacio Global City Open Field, many fans are there to witness the event ("I wished I'm there also but I have work so I have rely on the news instead"). This was be probably the biggest musical even of the year. But it was cut short cause Ely rushed to the Makati Medical Center.
More than 10 songs were played and the band took a 30-minute break. Forty minutes later, Buendia’s sister went up to the stage to to inform everyone that Ely rushed to the hospital she said Ely suffering from emotional and physical stress.
The good news Ely is in good condition at the moment, thats the news I've heard in TV Patrol last night. So all the fans of Ely "no worries", and I'm sure we will see Ely on screen or in the mall to promote their coming album...there are some gossip that they will make a "Reunion Album".... Better watch-out for that.
F.Y.I: Ely suffered a heart attack last January 7, 2007 and had already undergone surgery.I think this is the 3rd time or 4th time he has suffered a heart attack.
